Join us in Taipei this October to celebrate the Republic of China’s rich history in design!

To celebrate hosting the 2011 IDA Congress coinciding with the centenarian anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Taiwan government has designated the year 2011 as the “Year of Design.”

The International Design Alliance (IDA) is a strategic venture between the international organizations representing industrial design, communication design and interior architecture/design.

The IDA Congress is the primary event for dialogue between designers and non-design stakeholders in a summit format. The 2011 IDA Congress marks the alliance’s inaugural event since its establishment in 2005. Taipei was selected as the host city after an international competitive bid process.

In order to present the design power of Taiwan, TDC (Taiwan Design Center) has planned a very big design event in Taipei. Many international brands, BMW, Acer, Asus and BenQ, will join this festival. GDS has been invited to participate as one of the exhibitors.

With an estimated 3,000 design professionals from all over the world expected to visit Taiwan for the IDA Congress, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Taipei City Government joined forces in renovating the historical Songshan Tobacco Factory. It is now the Taiwan Design Museum, and is the venue for the 8th Taiwan Design Expo, a warm-up event for the 2011 IDA Congress Taipei.

Join us for the IDA Congress, and visit the GDS booth in the Taiwan Design Expo.
