A maxim that I always try to keep in mind is “form follows function“. That is why I really admire the German designer Dieter Rams. In times in which the majority of the designers focused on emotionality Rams concentrated on designing objects in a functional and self-explanatory way. I believe this maxim still is the basis for the most successful brands and products.

I am from Germany so, naturally, I enjoy a glass of cold beer. For me it is not just a drink – it is part of my culture. Of course, I have my favorite beer brand which I drink most of the time. But the great thing about Germany is that we have about 1,300 breweries that produce around 5,000 different types of beer. So I savor to try new brands time after time.

One of the first projects I worked on was a client workshop. In the preparation meetings to this workshop there was such a great group dynamics. One of us had an idea, the other added something, the next altered it a little and someone changed the context. Because everybody was open for new ideas we came up with some really great concepts. That day I learned that one should always keep one’s mind open and flexible.
